Inflatable Party Jumpers

You've seen them at restaurants, carnivals and other places where kids gather to have fun. The inflatable party jumper is a fantastic way to keep a large amount of kids entertained for a long period of time. An inflatable party jumper works as a great attraction for many occasions. Whether holding a county fair, the grand opening of a business or something smaller like a family reunion or birthday party, the inflatable party jumper will be a huge draw for children.

What is an inflatable party jumper?

Basically, the inflatable party jumper is a playground with trampoline qualities. It is made out of PVC vinyl material, formed into a balloon-like playground that can be rolled up and compressed to a smaller size for easy travel. An electric motorized air pump is connected to part of the inflatable party jumper, which quickly inflates it and creates enough pressure so kids can jump and bounce on it like a trampoline. Depending on the type of inflatable party jumper, sometimes stakes and rope are needed in order to keep the structure together and in place. Most also have mesh siding that allows for air circulation while keeping any kids from bouncing out.

Inflatable party jumpers normally have a weight rating as well as a recommendation for maximum amount of kids, which varies based on the size of the jumper and air pump. Generally, they can hold 4-10 children and support 200-500 pounds. These are usually rented out over a period of time by different companies, as they can be very expensive to own if only used for special occasions.

There are several types of inflatable party jumper; some are merely playgrounds meant for jumping, while others have more specific uses. In most cases, the inflatable party jumper is just a big room that kids can enter, jump around in and leave when they get tired. Although these structures can vary, the castle is the most popular choice. There are several types of inflatable party jumpers meant for more specific use than merely jumping.

Bungee Run

This is a two person race that takes place on an inflatable track, generally 35 feet in length. Each person is strapped into a harness that is connected by a bungee cord to an inflatable wall at the back of the track. The object of the race is to run as far down the track as possible and place a Velcro baton on a Velcro strip in the center of the two lanes before being pulled back by the bungee cord. The winner is the person who gets their baton farther down the lane.

Wall Jump

The point of the wall jump is for a person wearing a suit of Velcro to propel off an inflatable party jumper into an inflatable Velcro wall, sticking wherever they hit it. Generally the point of the game is to land as high as possible on the wall, but the rules can be changed for style or how long someone can stick to the wall, depending on how people want to play.

Obstacle Course

These can vary greatly, changing based on what kind of obstacles you choose to work through. Generally an inflatable obstacle course is made up of jumpers with elements like walls and ramps to climb, tunnels, slides and pillars. The idea is to maneuver through the obstacles the fastest.

Sports

There are several sports games made out of inflatable party jumpers, including foosball and boxing. These may be slightly harder to find than a normal inflatable party jumper. It depends on what the rental company specializes in.

Consider who the inflatable party jumper might be used by before selecting a certain type. If it is an adult heavy event, a more competitive jumper might be fun for people to enjoy. If kids are most likely going to be using the jumper, a standard playground or castle is cheaper and easier to monitor.

Remember that even though an inflatable party jumper is like a large cushion, that doesn't mean it is injury proof. There are plenty or risks involved in using an inflatable party jumper, just as there are with any other playground equipment. Too many wild kids can end up hurting each other while equipment failure and improper setup can lead to accidents. While jumpers can be a source of fun, they can also be a source of injury if not properly maintained and monitored.
